Tank Girl in 45 seconds...

... well, not quite, but in 30 minutes!
Happened to see on Facebook how Alan Martin wanted to see new artists for Tank Girl. I'm neither familiar with the comic (although looks like something I got to check out asap) nor do I got hubris about my talent, but I still wanted to try to do my own version of her.

Got practically no time at all for this kind of thing right now since in the middle of comics production, so I cut some corners and used an old unpublished illustration as base and just althered her to my liking.

Namor - The King of the Tea

So after a friend posted this video which to me clearly said Namor - King of the Tea (instead of the more commonly known King of the Sea) I knew I had to draw it. It was meant to be a fast sketch but I kinda started fiddling with it. Now I might have to color it at some point too. Bugger.

Matt Smith as Doctor Who

And while I started with the random posting I can just as well continue ;)
Here's a little painting I made of the 11th Doctor, Mr. Matt Smith. Such a lovely and weird face to paint.

A wild Lady Loki appears

Another totally random post. This is a sketch of Lady Loki that I did some time ago for the WeLoveFine.com Marvel Villain T-Shirt competition. I had very little time to work on this so I am not entirely happy with it. There is also a colored and more finished version of this that I might post at some point but right now at least I prefer this one.

Loki Laufeyson

I'll just follow Rama's lead and post unrelated stuff too. Maybe we should just change the name of the blog into random Punks ;)

I have seen the Avengers way too many times in the last week. It's such an awesome movie. And as I have always loved the evil underdogs, in comics and in movies, it's no surprise that I have a special place in my heart for the god of trickery (and awesome mulletness) Loki. I wish he'd be even more vicious but hey I'll take what I can get. This has all lead to me drawing the mischievous deity over and over again in the last weeks. I hope that after finishing thses I might, just might be able to exorcise the demon of The Marvel Fangirl.

Ghosts...

It's been real quiet here so I post some unrelated stuff as usual, just to update. This is Akai from Oxford Ghosts, Ms Mandu’s next big project once Oblivion High is finished. I happened to be reading Stendahl’s Le Rouge et le Noir when Joc introduced me to her ghost story idea, hence I call two of the characters Akai and Kuroi, but those names will propably not survive to the book…

Sansa Stark

So here is the finished Sansa Stark from the George R R Martin series Game of Thrones/Songs of Fire and Ice.
I posted some steps to this piece before here.

Sansa Stark aka. Mission, what mission?

Update: Changed the color scheme a bit and realized that I really hate painting crowns.

Guess I should post something here too, even though this has NOTHING to do with any mission. We need to come up with a "Fangirling the day away-paint your fave characters/singers/actors in however you feel like"-mission ;D

This is still a work in progress but it's supposed to be Miss Sansa Stark from the Game of Thrones. Started out as a simple grayscale study and ended somewhere else entirely.

There are steps to this in my blog and I'll post some more stuff here too when it's finished.

Cyberpunk goes steampunk...

Here comes my mission 5. As you can see chaos and Jin have gone from cyberpunk to steampunk... no idea how that happened!
Since I'm not quite sure how to proceed with this image, I'd love to hear what you guys think.

... and with colour! I just couldn't resist...

Going Down the Rabbit Hole...

Guess what, I actually finished an earlier mission; 'Alice in Wonderland'!
Since the original post is from early September 2011 and buried way down the rabbit hole, I'll post it here.
Alice and the White Rabbit!

A side-quest of sorts...

I've got lots of real work to do, so of course I'm drawing fanart instead, and would like to suggest a little side-quest while waiting for an official mission:
Let's do some fabulous Alena fanart! I've already started sketching mine!

And yes, I need a lot more practice on scissors and bleeding, flying heads!

Inking all done! Also, I tweaked the perspective slightly. And moved the head a bit.

Pencil sketch:

... and finally the coloured version. Not sure about this, I tend to prefer b/w...

Mission Sherlocked?

So after Daenerys I for some reason started painting Sherlock from the new BBC series. These two together have to count for one mission, right? RIGHT?

This was originally supposed to be a colored piece but I like it so much as grayscale that I'll just leave it as it is. For now.

There are steps to this piece in my blog

Daenerys Targaryen

This has nothing to with anything but here's a little painting I did of Daenerys Targaryen today. She is one of my favorite characters from the Game of Thrones saga. I might actually be able to fit this in the tv mission? Or not but never the less I hope you guys like it.

Different color versions and steps to the finished pic can be found in my blog.

Mission: Natzi mummy

A variation of theme *natsimuumio' ('Natzi mummy'), inspired by the not-so-intelligent discussion on the comics forum Kvaak.

EDIT: Total silence, not a single comment on Facebook, Ms Mandu blog or here. Either I've done something stupid, without realizing it, or the picture is very bad. And I was kind of proud of the eye(s)... and the rabbit skull.

Mission: Impossible?

Hello dears!

It has been a long winter and as we have a ll been very preoccupied with other things it was best to let the Punks lie for a bit. But now, finally, it is high time to kick 2012 in gear, ComicPunk style.

The winter has come and I for one have been freezing. Living in an old house with bad windows means drawing with gloves on and having a sea of candles burning at all times and not for the romantic purposes. So I have spent all my free time under a blanket freezing and watching all the tv I haven't had time for before. That reminded me of what Nina posted before. Meaning this:

"Ever wondered about the casting on a favourite film or tv-series? Well I certainly have, many times...
Was listening to Kate Bush 'Wuthering Heights' when I suddenly remembered how much wished they had cast Kate in the role of Cathy instead of Anna Calder-Marshall in the Timothy Dalton -version of Wuthering Heights from 1970."

Wouldn't now be the perfect timing for a tv/film challenge? Either renew your favorite character or then just use that character in a new way in a story or image?

And no, this has nothing to do with the fact that I'm obsessed with the new Sherlock and need a reason to draw many Benedict Cumberbatches... Nothing at all.
But also, that series works as a perfect example of re-imagining a classic character and making him something similar but very different. And gave me an excuse to post that pic with the fantastic blue hues. *Cough*

So say we all!
